The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

The Blind Owl
Detail from the grave of Sadegh Hedayat, Pere Lachaise Cemetery, Paris
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Sadegh Hedayat, he sounds a fascinating writer, I'm always willing to discover more books I haven't read! Is 'the blind owl' the best work to start with?
Haha EWBL. You wish people to toast your health when you're gone. Great idea!
I can strongly recommend the Blidn Owl, God Free Morals. I would say it's the best place to start on the basis that it' the only of his books I've read but oh boy what a great book. You can find the text on line if you prefer.
Agreed Chris. I love it too.
Thanks jmb.It really is well worth visiting if you are in Paris

I am glad you explained that picture.
Now if some evil kids were to make some crop circles in that pattern we could have all types of fun.
If the ancients did that it would have ended up in a Von Daniken book.
It would be a cool crop circle!
Marvellous writer! - Thanks for sharing the photo, Jams.
@ beakerkin: Good one. :)
Even better I was there with Iranians
No disrespect, but a grave with two perfect resting places for soda cans is just the kind of thing I would like when I die!
