I love that section in the British Museum. I don't remember seeing the cats though!

See how long that tail was? Museums fascinate me no end.

Jams, live cats only please! I once did a three week locum right next to the British museum and went every day in my lunch hour. What a pleasure that was. Is it still free entry?

It's a marvellous collection isn't it Cherie

And the British Museum is marvellous Nunyaa. Not something to do in an afterno-n!

It's still free jmb. I hope it stays that way for ever.

While the kitten version is rudimentary, a lot of effort and skill went into the weaving on the cat casings.

Amazing what some will do for their pets.

My six year old son is really into mummies right now. I read him a book yesterday that talked about how Egyptians believed the brains only function was for making snot and thats why they removed it before mummification.

If I had a choice I would rather face a cat mummy walking towards me than a Pharaoh mummy.

I never knew that EWBL. I'll have to ask my nephew who is a keen egyptologist.

Wellit does depend on the size of the cat!

These are so cool! I was a big fan of the mummified cat(s) (can't remember if there was more than one!) at the Royal Ontario Museum, which I visited regularly growing up.

I was last at the British Museum in 2007... you are so lucky to have such fantastic museums!
