The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Lime Hawk Moth
Not a rare moth by any means but still a welcome visitor to our garden. Shame I couldn't get a shot from the front

Beautiful!
Hmmm. I'm a bit suspicious given your recent image manipulation antics... I'm guessing it was really a thrush...
Thanks Alison
Trush? Pah it was originally a photo of a rottweiler in a swimming pool Andrew!
Lovely photo :-)
but it does remind me of this occasion:

You have to read the words beneath the picture ;-)
I always thought that a moth was a pest. We used to put moth balls with our wool blankets to protect them. Is this the samething? Good photo.
Nice critter. And a good shot too.
Oh, SO pretty Jams!!
You do great work with Photoshop. Looks nothing like a Rottweiler. Amazing!
Ah Claude this is not a clothes moth, they are tiny things and it is the caterpillars that do the damage.
Snoopy, Knat it is definitely a handsome creature. I love moths
I must admit it did take some manipulation to remove the water and the dog like attributes!
Ah cherie what a beautiful moth. There is nothing to be scared of. They are just a beautiful part of nature
