The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Clever. Due to the cigarette, no doubt. I'm in that club too. No longer permitted to smoke at outdoor tables at restaurants. As one restaurant proclaims on its outdoor tables: if you want to smoke outside you must stand up and if you want to drink alcohol outside you must sit down. It's the law, you know.
I used to be but I gave up 10 years ago. Perhaps the restaurant should award prizes for the best attempts at sitting and standing that facilitate both activities!

Cool. But not pariah, I dare say.
Spoken like a true smoker!
