The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

A species the world is better off without my friend. My own father was younger than them. He was just 18 at D-Day but he had been in uniform since he was 15
