Jack the Ripper Identity Solved part 228, 746

Of all the serial killers the case of Jack the Ripper continues to fascinate; this is of course due to the fact that the perpetrator of the crimes was never apprehended. Over the 110 years or so many people have been "identified" as Jack ranging from the ordinary to the utterly outlandish (Sickert, Gull and such utter nonsense) New candidates are put forward with great frequency

Recently another suspect has been put forward, which has gathered a lot of pres attention because the author identifies a woman as the perpetrator

Author John Morris identifies Lizzie Williams as Jack the Ripper in his book Jack The Ripper: The Hand Of A Woman. As I haven't read the book I have no particular opinion on the plausibility or otherwise of his evidence or his conclusion (anyway I am no Rippeologist) but what gets my goat is the shock the press shows at the idea that Jack the Riper could in fact be Jill.

For fuck's sake the opinion that Jack the Ripper was a woman is nothing new. Even Inspector Abberline looked into the possibility during the initial investigations an it has remained a fringe idea ever since.

To be honest I don't think we will ever know Jack's identity. I also don't think that Mr Morris's will be the last to put forward a name.
