The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

The only time I gave up on getting something back was when I left a bag of catnip in the pocket of a pair of jeans. It wasn't worth the struggle.
