One of the highlights of my recent trip to Paris was the chance to attend a major exhibition of Goya's engravings. Included of course were his Disasters of War engravings depicting scenes from the French invasion of Spain.Nearly 200 years on they remain powerful images of the horrors of war: Rape, mutilation, famine.

There was a Goya exhibition back in NYC around the time I left for VT. I do not place much stock in the Dutches of Alba talk.
