It's Eurovision Song Contest time!

The social highlight of the year comes around again. Beer will be consumed, laughs will be had and there will be jeering at the fixed voting.... We can be fairly sure that NONE of the following will be contestants:

Arch Enemy - Sweden

Sparks-= USA but could represent anyone

Laibach - Slovenia

However some famous singers did do a Eurovision entry early in their careers and went on to better things, particularly Ofra Haza (and Celine Dion too, sadly).

I think I shall err on the side of safety and keep my distance from the contest!

It's funny, I'm French Canadian and I'm not too fond of Celine Dion.

Eurovision songs are sooo.... hmmmm... how should I put it..... "lame"..... :) My daughter who is 9 watched it online and thought most songs were repetitive....

just imagine how bad it is. A 9 year thinks they are boring.... :) :) :)

But still.... there is something sentimental about it for me.... I grew up with it....

How did you know, Sean? I just listened to it. It's not much....

But then I didn't hear the others. Just the winner...Maybe your daughter is right, Nevin, :) :)

I find her unbearable Claudia!

Ah Katie Boyle. It might have been fun if Al Murray had compered!

And by a big margin too Sean. A dull song!

Ah the songs are usually lame Nevin, but the coreography and costiumes usually add something to make it wonderfully bad. Still it looks better after a few beers!

Just watching "live" in Oz. So many bad songs and the UK song was one of the worst. Where do they get them from. The same people who did the the show promoting 2012 in Beijing?

It was pretty crap this year. There were just not enough absolutely terrible songs, just a lont of boring ones.

The British entry was by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was just tedious.
