The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Since they like shiny stuff, I wonder what would happen if you put pretty jewelry on a magpie and then set it in front of a mirror...
I wonder if they would spend hours admiring themselves!
Now I shall definitely keep out of the way of magpies!
I remember reading a study about crows that showed they have two behaviors in common with primates - imagination and the ability to anticipate events.
