Photohunt - Missed

© 2011 Shaun P Downey
The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is Missed. Here is Mimi again who died in 2009. She may have had no concept of what the litter box was for, she may have had a sever disability which cut her life short, but she was one of the most loving cats I have ever known

Mimi returns

An adjusted version of an old photo of the dear departed , Mimi yawning. Apparently her yawn is the most viewed photo on this blog

Photo Hunt and 4000th post

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is mainly black so here's Lord Horror (aka Ted) again. He is of course considering how much drivel can this blogger spew on this, the occasion of the Poor Mouth's 4,000th.

Even the ghost of the dear departed Mimi is so stunned that I have been able to say absolutely nothing of worth over so many installments that it is back to show its astonishment

Ah well, onwards and downwards (in quality) to post 5,000

Photo Hunt - Open

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is open. Thanks to Annie who thought the open cat mouth in my prebious post was diubling up as my photo hunt entry, I had the idea to go back to a photo I posted in 2007 before I joined the Hunt.

This is our dear departed Mimi who was a tiny cat but with a big gaping maw!

Ted is slightly dismayed at my3,000th post

Where Ted shows slight dismay Mimi, if she had still been alive, would have been shocked at the continuing torrent of drivel to be found at the Poor Mouth

photo hunt - jiggly

The theme for this week's Photo Hunt is jiggly, an adjective to describe something that moves or rocks lightly up and down or to and fro in an unsteady, jerky manner.

Determined to keep the subject matter decent, the only choice for this theme is our dear, departed and disabled cat Mimi. She suffered from cerebelar hypoplasia which meant that she moved in an uncoordinated and jerky manner and had a strange head wobble. For all that she was an utterly loveable cat.

Mimi - Heinrich Heine`

"I'm no proper bourgeois-kitten,
Cozy rooms I won't be needing,
On the roof, in open air,
It's a free cat's life I'm leading.

Summer nights, I'm rhapsodizing,
Up upon the rooftops stealing,
Music purrs and grrrs within me,
And I sing just what I'm feeling."

So she speaks. And from her bosom
Bridal songs are wildly surging,
Charming melodies that bring
Tomcat bachelors converging.

Tomcat bachelors converging,
Purring, grrring, snarling, mewing,
Here with Mimi to make music,
Love and drooling, ardent wooing.

These are not your virtuosos,
Who for fame do vainly jostle,
How profane! But these remain
Holy music's true apostles.

Instruments they don't require,
They themselves are flutes, violas,
Bellies are their kettledrums,
And for trumpets they have noses.

Voices now they raise in concert,
Mighty chorus, or duets; O
Those are fugues, like those of Bach
Or of Guido of Arezzo.

These are symphonies, audacious
Like caprices of Beethoven,
Even those of Berlioz,
Now surpassed in cat-commotion.

Magic tones of mystic power!
Rare, unequalled serenading!
They give Heaven shocks, convulsions,
And the stars themselves are fading.

When she hears the magic timbres,
The majestic cantilena,
So she veils her face with clouds,
Goddess of the moon, Selene.

Just that scandal-monger, aging
Primadonna Philomela,
Turns her nose up, sniffs, abuses
Mimi's singing - cold unfeeler!

All the same! They're making music,
Despite the envious Signora,
'Til appears on the horizon
Rosy smiling sprite, Aurora.

Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)

I must thank my dear fellow blogger Sean Jeating for sending this poem to me.

Mimi: 10 January 2004 - 16 February 2009

Mimi was put to sleep today after a short but serious deterioration in her condition, The vet believes that she may have had a teratoma in her brain. She may not have lived as long as other cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia but she had a happy life and was much loved. We will miss her terribly

Mimi, being unsteady on her fet can often fall over during her toilet duties. As a result she needs the odd shower. This week's entry for the Friday Ark and Carnival of the Cats

Photo Hunt - Wide

The theme for this week's Photo Hunt is wide. I've put this photo up before (not in PH though) but it is the shot that fits the bill best without resorting to a stretch... I'll leave the stretch to Mimi's mouth instead

Mimi gets cheese

Mimi about to sink her teeth into a nice lump of cheese. If I'm lucky she will miss my fingers

So I fell over in a puddle what of it? (Photo Hunt - Lazy)

This week's entry for Friday Ark and Carnival of the Cats.

Given also that cats can raise laziness to an art form this is my entry for this week's Photohunt - this week's theme being lazy...
