Oscar

This is Oscar a stray the not-wife took in in 1989. He was around 3 or 4 at the time. He came with us when we bought our house in 1992 and he died, aged 16 or 17, in 2002. This photo was taken some time in early 2002. This week's entry for Friday Ark and Carnival of the Cats.

That's so nice that you shared your home with Oscar. I once had a stray cat visit my door many years ago. I called him "Orange Kitty". (Yes, I know. Very creative. LOL)

He used to sit at the screen door every night, so I started to give him some milk, and a few table scraps. He enjoyed it so much, he started opening the sliding door by himself, and he would come into the kitchen and wait while I washed dishes after dinner! So, I started buying him some cat food, and he would stay and watch TV!

Eventually, we went our seperate ways and now, sometimes, I miss that Orange Kitty.

It is easy to see why dogs have masters and cats have slaves :-)

I bet you do miss Orange Kitty LB. Cats can and do get under your skin (I mean metaphorically but also literally - you can see the scars!).
Ted and Bebe are rescue cats too.

Ah Nunyaa we are willing servants of our feline overlords!

Oscar was a lovely Mancat. We like how his tag is so vibrant against his fur.

My Sam is a rescue - came to me at age 16 months and I was his 4th home. And his last. He's now about to turn 7 years of age (approximately) and he is quite literally the love of my life! He's cranky, intelligent, sweet and loving, feisty and altogether filled with personality and love. I cherish every moment I'm privileged to spend with this beautiful creature and I don't know what I'd do without him - even when he's having one of his difficult personality days!

One of my cats - named Oscar - wandered off in 1989 but, unless he told you his name, your Oscar isn't likely to be my Oscar.

Well, he didn't really wander off from me. After my first marriage break-up I had to sell my house in the country and get a friend to look after Oscar.

One night on my drive to my new home I saw a dead cat - not Oscar - by the side of the road. My immediate thought was, "Something's happened to Oscar!" That night I got a call to say Oscar had disappeared. He was never seen again.

Thanks, Oscar was a lovely old fellow: So friendly and even tempered but the undisputed master of the house.

Callum it is always heart breaking to lose a pet. I hope someone found hjim and gave him a home

Oscar is a very dignified looking gentleman, a bit Churchillian of jowl. Somecat you would suspect of owning a pocket watch.

Oscar is very handsome, and it sounds like he was a delightful cat to have around. Thanks for sharing your memories of him with us.

Oscar looks like a very handsome cat. My cat Puddy was a stray. It's a very fulfilling feeling taking in a stray animal and I am sure Oscar left you with some very wonderful memories.

Thanks simone. He was a handsome and gentle fellow.

LOL Bryan He was a bit more handsome than Winston though!

Catsynth, Katie in his prime he was utterly handsome. He was the undisputed alpha cat despite the other male cats being much bigger than him but he was so friendly

We used to have a dog named Oscar. He was a boxer and we named him after Oscar de La Hoya!

I'm more of a cat person, though. So, I think your Oscar is/was more stunning.

Haha good choice of names. Oh he was a handsome and pleasant fellow.. but a bit of a fatso. I used to call him the little fat chubber!
