WW - Pathfinder Sunday 2008

The march of time means that fewer and fewer pathfinders are alive or well enough to make the annual pilgrimage to RAF Wyton, formerly the HQ of 8 Group (the Pathfinders). The Pathfinders were an elite group of RAF squadrons responsible for marking targets to be attacked during bombing raids in WWII. This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday edition of Wordless Wednesday.

My father is in the centre. He is wearing a suit rather than a blazer.

When we lose these fine folks, we lose their stories. That's a sad thing. God bless these people.

Hi Jams, pick your Dad's brain the best you can and take some notes. My Dad and my uncle have both died, anything I can't remember died with them because they were the last of their generation.
..
I didn't know those cars were called 'Moogies' but of course there weren't many imported to the U.S. for us to get very familiar with. Thank you.

Hello Jams, long time since my last visit here.

It must be a bittersweet gathering for them remembering their days and lost pals. My husband's grandfather was also a pilot during WWII but he died after the war.
