Oh what a very nice take on the theme, since the world did come together to remember their dearly departed at the beginning of this month.

Happy weekend.

Ahhhh.... Good one Jams. :) Hope your weekend is going well. Saw your intruder cat pic - we have two and they are driving Pyewacket bananas.

I bought a spray can of cat deterrent - um, NOT very efective.

Round One to the intruders, zero to screaming Pye.

Nice take! Remembering the heroes that die for protecting the country together.

What are those little bags actually?

Anonymous said...

Ooopps....! When I look closer, then only I notice those are cross. But at one glance it sure does looks like mini bag maybe carrying a blessing for the dead.

This is very nice,Jam! Heart warming too. Thanks for sharing;)

Wow. I didn't realize what they were. So many....that's a sobering thought. Thanks for tackling this subject and reminding us what we have to be grateful for.

Amazing... too many dead ;(

that's a lovely take on the theme, especially as, without wanting to sound much older than I am, the youth of today do not seem to comprehend what these men and women sacrificed for us.

nice concept and very memorable too. We have celebrated this last weekend, Nov 1 and 2.

thank you for sharing this one jams, I enlarged the photo prior to reading what you said. I recognized the Poppy, and remember Flanders field.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
— Lt.-Col. John McCrae

My initial reaction was how beautiful are your photos. Then, upon realizing what they were of, I got to thinking how so very sad... :S

I also initially got a geometric. Then I looked closely and I got it even without reading your description. This just touches me deeply.

Well done.

It took so many brave souls to bring about peace. It's a shame that we can't remember more often...what is that phrase? "Those who fail to remember the past are doomed to repeat it..." I think that's correct. This is just one reason why I feel such a kindred spirit with our UK brethren.
~~~Blessings~~~
I was wondering why all the news journalists on the BBC have been wearing poppies all week! What a beautiful idea for the theme and beautiful photos too.
It's sad there are so many, but wonderful they're remembered. Our Memorial Day is in May, our Veteran Day is this month, on the 11th.
These are wonderful shots. Interesting how the crosses and poppies are done.
We remember on Nov. 11 with Veterans Day.
There will be flags placed at the crosses in the National Cemetaries. Always an awesome sight also.
Thanks for this reminder that is takes the world to have peace, and for dropping by earlier.
My younger kids had a Veteran's Day presentation at school on Friday. It culminated in a big drive for items to send to the soldiers stationed overseas.
I for one was really happy to see the school recognizing the sacrifices of these soldiers/heroes.
