Photo Hunt - Wet

The theme for this week's photo hunt wet (or rainy) Iam a bit stuck for decent photos so here's what I made of a fountain in Trafalgar Square (Yes I know I posted this earlier this year but what the hey!) I use it on my business card.

Can you see the faces in the fountain?

Photo Hunt - Greasy

The theme for this week's photo hunt is greasy. None of my photos feature anything greasy in the standard sense so I have chosen to go for a slang use of the word - disreputable, sordid, dirty, etc.

If one is prudish then one could describe what these two lily beetles are up to is greasy!

Photo Hunt - Silhouette

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is silhouette. This isn't a silhouette but still a nice and contrasty image of Lord Horror himself (That's Ted to those who don't fear his wrath!)

Photo Hunt - School

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is school so what am I doing showing a photo of a big rock in a field?

Actually I am not stretching the theme one little bit. The rock, which is located in the Millstreet County Park in Ireland, was the site of a hedge school.

A hedge school was a rural school in Ireland that existed mainly in the 18th century when catholic schools were forbidden under what were known as the Penal Laws, which placed severe restrictions on the rights of Catholics and "dissenters" (protestants who were not part of the Anglican church).

In the absence of a formal education system the hedge schools continued well into the 19th century. They did decline after the introduction of National Schools (primary/elementary schools) in 1831.

In reality most hedge schools were located in barns or in other places out of the elements. This one is relatively unusual

he theme for the week's Photo Hunt is framed, What to choose? Here's another outing of a photo of a painting my dear friend Suzy Ripley did of the not-wife for me as a birthday present. The not-wife's father framed it beautifully but I don't have a pic of the frame (It is off the wall and in storage until we repaint)

Photo Hunt - Open

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is open. Thanks to Annie who thought the open cat mouth in my prebious post was diubling up as my photo hunt entry, I had the idea to go back to a photo I posted in 2007 before I joined the Hunt.

This is our dear departed Mimi who was a tiny cat but with a big gaping maw!

Photo Hunt - Mother

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is mother. Now I could have shown a phot0 of my female parent but she doesn't like to be photographed. So here is Bebe instead, Bebe was a feral cat before she came to us. She was born in a feral colony a few miles away. A person who used to feed them kept an eye on her when she was a kitten and when she had her first litter when she was little more than a kitten he took her to a cat shelter.

Bebe's kittens went quickly but nobody wanted a timid and rather wild young adult... except us. We took her in and gradually she developed into an affectionate if still a bit timid, housecat
