Freddy Laker

A curiosity from JJ Burnel's solo album Euroman Cometh. I think I have still this single somewhere

This is (was???) a fun presentation. With the two previous posts, I wish I had been at that piano (hiding) but playing. A very good band, and serious lyrics.

I worked at a street clinic (Ottawa) in those years (the 70s???) Saturday midnight, kids (15-16), hardly able to stand up, would arrive, having jabbed themselves with "speed". The dope was paid with money collected on malls. "Please, ten cents for coffee, Ma'am, Sir?" It didn't take long for them to get the five bucks needed for a shot. They came to us because we never called the cops. We bunked them till they would be half-normal (whatever that was!!!). And we tried rehabilitation. We saved a few. And we lost some, alas!

Would you believe the word verification is "musiogi"......

It is a curiosity eh Claudia. So you would ahve been Dave Greenfield. IA friend went on tour with the Stranglers. Greenfield was a nice guy apparently.

THat must have been tough work Claudia. I am glad that you saved some. It would be so easy to have let them rot, and rot they would have done.

I don't know it you worked it out but don't Bring Harry was a song about Heroin

Yes! I did, Jams. Through the lyrics. That's what brought back all the memories.

It is an evil drug. A friend of mine was an addict. It took her two goes to get clean. She has been off the stuff for nearly 25 years but she knows it could drag her back in a heartbeat

It's heartbraking. My single son is still in love with a charming, beautiful young woman, who had been rehabilitated for 5 years, and then, went back to it. Of course she wants nothing at all to do with him now. She's totally lost in that world. Her parents are devastated. We all are.

THat is terrible Claudia. Heroin is a monster that consumes its victims whole
