Bye bye Mubarak

Mubarak has finally gone. but control now rests with the army council. Now what for Egypt?' Ideally free and fair elections as soon as possible. I only hope that the army does not get a taste for political power,,,,

Where will the protest go next? Yemen? Jordan? Syria? Algeria? We will know soon enough...

Hoping for the best. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Mubarak has, very probably, stashes of Egypt money here, there, everywhere. I heard his bank account is frozen in Canada. I hope it's true, and that other countries do the same.

That is exactly what Dick and I were discussing earlier about the military wanting to retain power. What a mess!

Nasser, Sadat, and Mubarek have all come directly from the Egyptian military. They're a very powerful and well supported (by the US) force in the country who would never have allowed Mubarek's son to take over. My hope is that this time real elections are allowed to happen rather than having a new strongman appointed. It's a tough one but there's a possibility.

I daresay Mubarak will not be uncomfortable in retirement Claude! I hope the people of Egypt are better without him

I hope the military does not decide it likes being in charge Sandy!

I hope so too Susan or else it will be more of the same
