The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
You need to buy XM Satellite Radio, jams. Yesterday, I heard that SPARKS song, and today while driving home from the pool with my kids, we finally had the pleasure of listening to "Airscape".
The station on XM is channel 44 FRED, and they play older alternative music. There's two other more current alternative stations, 47 ETHEL, and 54 LUCY. Seeing a pattern here? I can die peacefully now that I've heard Airscape in its entirety!
I have cable rather than satellite and those stations are not on offer, sadly. Hey I hope you enjoyed Airscape. It is one of my all time favourite songs
No, this is mainly a device for your vehicle. Although, they do sell a unit to stream the audio in your house too. I spend a lot of time in the car shuffling back and forth, so this was my most favorite Christmas gift from Papi.
Ah I will see if there is a similar device in the UK.. Hmm putting it in mt car may be a bit of a waste given that we put about 2000 miles a year on the clock.. besides it is a 16 year old Corrolla old but not quite the vehicle that doubles in value when you fili it up though!
I drive extensively for work. Yes, global warming begins with me. I counter it by not driving anywhere but the grocery store in my off hours. I cherish XM. There's a little something for everybody, sports politics on both sides, comedy, and more music than you can shake a stick at.
Yes, I've heard lots of Eddie Izzard on the comedy station, ditto for George Carlin. My favorite comedian of the moment is Bill Engvall. He's rip roarin funny without profanity; a real rarity in his field. Also, Dane Cook and Brian Regan crack me up.
Sadly, I've never heard any Hawkwind, even on a diverse system like XM. You didn't tell me what you thought of Jonatha Brooke. She runs the gamut from ballads, to folk, to pop, to rock, to a kind of country feel. She plays nearly every instrument too. In this cardboard cutout musical industry, she hasn't gotten proper recognition.
What do you think of KT Tunstall? She's supposed to be the next big European act to hit America but I loathe her music. Especially the repetitious Black Horse song. Dreadful.
KT Tunstall? Hmm over rated in my view. While we are at it I will happily trade James Blunt for a vegetable fajita! Jonatha sounded good but al too often the most talented artists do not get anywhere, Robyn being a case in point in my view.
A lot of american comedians do not get airing here. Bill Hicks had a bigger audience here than in the US but George Carlin is pretty well unknown, believe it or not. I haven't heard of Bill Engvall

Hmm a station full of Robyn, Hawkwind, old punk interspersed with Bill Hicks, George Carlin and Eddie Izzard.. Bliss!
