A very nice way of remembering individual sacrifice. The closest we come to this on my side of the pond is Arlington West, a private undertaking in Santa Barbara, California for the Iraq War dead.

It's a temporary thing, set up in the grounds of Westminster Abbey every year. It is very moving to thing thaqt these memorials were placed by someone remembering someone lost in war.
