Ms Gibbons did nothing to offend Islam. She should never have been imprisoned in the first place. It's good to see some sense.in what has been a ridiculous case.

This whole story is so out of this world, it is hard to imagine any country having such foolish and totalitarian laws.

I am relieved to hear this. The poor lady has just been used for political ends. I do think she was ill-advised, or more to the point, not advised, by the school, though.

Again I would imagine that is true too. I'm surprised someone in the school didn't pick up and suggest that this might be a problem no matter ridiculous it may seem.

It is easy to imagine countries having such absurd laws. This is a classic example of dhimmi laws. All
of us know that Jim Crow, colonialism
and slavery are wrong. The usual suspects seem to ignore these problems when presented in an Islamic context.
Most of us are familiar with the history of Western colonialism. Yet the very same people feign ignorance about Islamic colonialism.

My Papi has an intriguing theory about all this hullabaloo(you're English so I feel I can bandy that word about!) I think it would be controversial so I won't write it here. Beakerkin is fairly close to his thoughts, though. Papi thinks this was a set-up pure and simple.
I think it may possibly be the case that someone was looking for an excuse to heap trouble on the scholl. It is pretty far fron being a hardline Madrassa and I daresay there are quite a few who would love to see it closed
