Photo Hunt - Greasy

The theme for this week's photo hunt is greasy. None of my photos feature anything greasy in the standard sense so I have chosen to go for a slang use of the word - disreputable, sordid, dirty, etc.

If one is prudish then one could describe what these two lily beetles are up to is greasy!

Funny sight and I learned some new slang! First one I've seen so far that didn't feature food.

Happy Weekend Jams!

On my little phone screen, I at first thought they were Ladtbirds. These ones are also very pretty. Here in Australia we have some beautiful creatures called 'Christmas beetles'. They are bluey greeny irridescence. They also fly as if intoxicated - fast and crashing into everything. Ladybirds, however, as found in England remain my favourite bug,

Ah Christmas betles sound great. I must look them up. Lily beetles are an import. The little bastards feed on lilies and fritilarias,,, gits!

Nice one :-) I struggled with the theme too...

The colours are wonderful. I'm wondering how long you had to wait for them to get into position?

Hi jams --

Ohhh, you have photos of insect porn too! I say "too" because I've come across quite a number of different kinds of bugs doing what comes naturally over the course of my Hong Kong hiking. Do a search on my blog for spiders, grasshoppers, butterflies, dragonflies, etc. should you be so inclined! ;D

I did a quick search Jams and I couldn't find a decent picture of one of the bluey greeny (and goldy, come to think of it) ones as I described. Apparently there are many types. Wikipedia shows a rather dowdy brown one.
Now I'd like to catch a shot of one. . . maybe next Christmastime.
