The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

The color and detail is extraordinary! Do you use a special flash or filter combo?
Glad you like the image bberty. I have a ring flash on order so the flash used is the built in one on the camera. I use a specialist macro lens, the camera set to aperture priority mode, the lens stipped down.
I do little enhancement apart from cropping if needed. I may adjust brightness and contrast,. Apart from that I didnt manipulate the image (I dont know how to use photoshop anyway!)
I must admit I am pleased with them (althugh for every image there are a fair few rejects!). Stopping down and underexposing seems to reduce the bleaching effects you usually see with flashes.

Well, it certainly looks great for a stock flash... I just know my pictures don't come lookin' nearly that good.
