The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

I wonder if Bruce Dickinson cringes at this video
Before Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson was the singer in Samson. a well regarded but not hugely successful NWOBHM band (well not in comparison to Iron Maiden anyway) . I wonder if he ever looks back at these early videos and wonders what they were thinking of. Then again, not many videos stand the test of time.

Hehe - videos from this period are hardly ever good! I quite liked the song though.
When the female was on the balcony it reminded me a bit of Brixton Academy, I wonder where it was filmed?
I saw Samson at a pub between Chadwell Heath and Goodmayes (and Marillion and Angel Witch and Here and Now and Chemical Alice.. ach Chemical Alice is a bit before your time perhaps. They were okay. I was about a goot from Bruce's gaping maw.
I haven't been back to Brixton for ages.. I knackered my coccyx there during a Sisters of Mercy concert...
Indeed Dragonstar. I've always had a soft spot for HM and I love Iron Maiden - Paul Dianno was good but perhaps he didn't quite have what it took to propel Iron Maiden to the hieghts they achieved.
It's pretty Spinal Tap eh Ewbl.. it was another NWOBHM band called Saxon that was the basis for the Taps though

Memories of a mis-spent youth?
This video is hilarious! Wasn't Brucie young? He's high on my list of favourite singers. I've thoroughly enjoyed this.
Is this Spinal Tap?!!!?!?
