The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Two more WWI veterans die
Following the death of Raymond Cambeforton 16 January and Louis de Cazenave on 20 January, there is now just one remaining French WWI veteran - Italian born Lazare Ponticelli.

This is so sad. Such a momentous time.
There are 15 according to wikipedia. I've no reason to disbelieve Wikipedia on this - it is an excelent rference source for objective matters.
There are 6 Britons, 2 Italians, 2 Americans, and i each from France, Canada, Australia, Turkey and the Austro Hungarian army.
