The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Hi Jams, I like those Rodins. We have "The Thinker" (replica I suppose) outside my school's law school building.I were to take an art Class it might be on Rodin's works. Like you, we did visit the Rodin Museum in Paris.Happy WW!..
Dude! That's totally spookular!great choice of angles for the subject. Makes it even more "threatening" than it might have been.Well played!
Very scary sculptures.:)
That's amazing. Disturbing but beautiful all at once or that's how it strikes me.
great photos, but it's a little scary for me.
This figure really looks to be crying out in anguish. There is so much emotion in this sculpture.
Gosh, those are powerful.
He could capture passion and make it last forever. I feel the pain in this. I saw a Rodin show in Connecticut a few years ago and couldn't get over how much I felt every statue in the show. It was exhausting.
Yikes, I don't like him, powerful but scary:(
Yikes...it does look demonic! Happy WW. Great shots:)
GREAT ART WORK!Amazing really, it tried to be scary but I could only appreciate. :)
I have never seen these before. The last one immediately reminded me of that Goya painting of Saturn eating his son!Bobbie
Geez ! I almost dropped my cup of coffee ! Such scary pictures early morning, lol !
It does look spooky!
*Gulpz* the 2nd picture really spook me!! :P
Sorry jams, I haven't been around lately... Is that really a Rodin? I've never seen anything like that and I visited the Rodin Museum in Paris! :)
Good scary photo. Love the second one.
Jams, that's a great capture of the grotesque in this sculpture. Happy WW! :)
Great things to capture, if a little scary!
A great picture, jams, of a frightening work. The demon's face seems familiar; is that from one of the instances of the Gates of Hell? I've seen one of those on the Stanford University campus in California, many years ago. I can find a listing of it on the web, but I didn't find photos to compare.Or maybe it just looks like a long-ago former housemate when she was angry at me...
I didn't quite realise how demonic the face was but after a bit of adjustment it did look pretty scary
