The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
I love Egyptian artifacts, eventually I want to decorate my house in such .

Amazing!I have long been amazed by stories of Egypt and probably seeing this statue is next to being in Egypt.Happy new year to you and yours, Jam :)
It's sick, I know, but when I saw your photo all I could think of is Steve Martin singing King Tut. Sorry!
He is definitely wordless -- but fascinting!!!
I wasn't thinking Egyptian when I saw it. Looked a little more Rasputin-ish to me!Cool photo though!
There are so many treasures at the British Museum, it is overwhelming! I spend 6 hours there one day, and feel as though I didn't even scratch the surface! :o
There is just so much to see LB, it needs lots of cisits
That statue is a long way from home. I would love to see it one day.
Hey, I know that guy. I think I went to college with him...

great shot. it's interesting, i wouldn't want it in my house though, but i hope to see it someday.happy new year!
Looking cool and will be lovely to visit the museum with all those artifacts to view.I think I know why museums are closed in the evenings...those artifacts look a little eerie.
That is so cool. Great shot:) Happy WW.
That must have looked grand! even by looking at this in your photo is it already :) Thanks for the visit :)
The face looks almost real!
Spooky. Very cool, but spooky. In college I studie Eqyptian life for one semester. Their death was more interested than their lives in my opinion. Their beliefs and how they handled the bodies of different classes of people. Anyway, very cool picture. Happy WW!
Wow, nice picture. Very dramatic. :)
Oh how I would love to visit the British Museum... And I love this shot. The lighting makes his face look positively about-to-say-something.
Very nice picture, Jams. Here is mine...Happy New Year!
Bark!!! Cool statue. Happy 2009 and Woofless Wednesday.
I am a huge fan of ancient Egyptian art, but I have to say that (as with artifacts like the Elgin marbles) I would prefer to see them in their country of origin.Happy New Year, Jams.Bobbie
its face kinda gives me the willies.
My mom went to ramsey exhibit when I was younger. I always looked at her books and wanted to go. This is a great shot.
I'd love to visit the museum. I've only been to the one in L.A. I watched an interesting Nat'l Geo today about Cleopatra. Interestingwoman, asp and all...~~~Blessings~~~
He is one very old dude! SurprisedEgypt hasn't asked for him and all his buddies back. We have a memorable collection of Egyptian artifacts in Melbourne, including at least one mummy. :)
he is awfully quiet. :X
I do love going to museum... Nice one for wordless... Mine's up too hope you can drop by... Happy WW!
They had funny beards !
Ancient and intimate at the same time.
egyptian artifacts never lose their aura of enigma.. even after all these years... in your photo, the dark mystery still surrounds them --- literally and figuratively:)
I was fortunate enough to get to go to Egypt and Israel a few years ago and we visited several museums in both countries... the mummies at the Egyptian sites were fascinating! Thanks for sharing and happy WW!
Interesting picture. Happy WW.
That's a beautiful artifact.
