Photo Hunt - Smelly

The theme for this week's PhotoHunt is smelly. This photo shows the flowers of Thalictrum flavum, the meadow rue. Flowers should be sweet smelling (if they have a smell at all) Thalictrum, on the other hand, smells of ammonia - definitely a case of pretty blooms but a vile smell!

(I know this is a re-posting of this photo but I haven't had the chance to get out and take new photos for a while now)

Horrid! I don't think I know that plant; is it native? I certainly don't know a plant that smells of ammonia!

Good idea for the smelly theme. Ammonia is not a good smell for a flower.

Isn't that the worst when something should be sweet but it's stinky...hmmmm...mother nature's tricks!

Funny, I have a foul-smelling flower too! :D Unlike you, I have no idea what mine is called. But it's from a bulb.

Happy weekend to you!

I remember when someone fainted they just let the patient smell ammonia and his back to consciousness. that would be a good alternative.

great shot.

Great image, especially against the black background. Ammonia, huh? I'll steer clear!

Elegant take on the theme. I am not playing this week since I don't have any "smelly" pics and I was honestly afraid of disgusting pics...
Good job!

Smells of ammonia? Argh!! I never want to smell that flower. Had enough of the smell when I was doing experiments in the Chemistry lab. YUK! Hehehehe (=

An ammonia-smelling flower? Just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by its cover.

Beautiful shot.

That is a lovely photo! A plant that smells like ammonia? Interesting. Not a very nice smell for a flower to have.
