WW- Langtons

This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of Wordless Wednesday is an 18th century building in Hornchurch. It is now used by the local council as a venue for wedding receptions... My sister had her wedding breakfast and party here back in 1983.

I can't spend much time at the pc at the moment what with my leg being in plaster. I will try to get around to visit as many WW participants as I can.

Tough time for a leg injury, best wishes on that.

The photo almost looks Infrared.

Not a former MOD building then?

Langtons was also three times in row (1986-88) "Pub of the Year".
Well, the Langtons in Kilkenny.

What a stately building that is. At first glance, I thought a celebrity or a rich person lives in it.

Sry to hear abt your leg. Get well soon!

THanks everyone.

I took this shot a couple of years ago with my Nikon D50 and an IR filter. THe IR effect isn't bad if I say so myself!

Mojo said...

So that's what gave it this surreal quality! I'd wondered how you go that.

I agree jams... IR effect is quite impressive!

I used to use infrared film, that made every picture look like that.

Don't even ask about color infrared film. It's great if you want to do a portrait, and make the person look like a Zombie.

Glad you like the effect Nevin

Ah an IR filter and a DSLR is so much easier Ren. I have never tried colour IR work though

Sexy cast! Yes, you SHOULD pimp it out - why is it white? Get some multi-colored marking pens and go out and ask perfect strangers to sign it!

Hope you are better soon.

Happy Tuesday,

Hi Jams,

Take good care of yourself and don't worry about visiting while you're recuperating.

This looks like a wonderful place for a wedding reception or wedding breakfast. So beautiful!

Cheers, Carver

That's quite a place. I wonder if the folks who built it could have imagined its future purpose.

Sorry to hear about your leg. Sounds like a lap top would come in handy. Pretty amazing how the blossoms on those trees just shimmer. Happy WW

What pretty trees outside that building. I'll bet many a wedding party has been photographed there.

I'm sorry to hear about your leg. That's no fun at all. Heal well, and fast.

I can't get that kind of 'old' in Oz. I can't imagine being able to just head out and pick me some incredibly old place to photograph, not without catching an international flight. Interesting look to the photo too. :)

I've been enjoying your recent posts (yes, do pimp the zimmer!), but I especially loved to see Langtons.

I like the idea of old places being used now as a wedding reception. I hope your leg is feeling a lot better now.
