The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Congratulations to Miliband Minor
Congratulations to Ed Miliband. To be honest I thought David was thedead cert so what do I know!
Anyway, with no disrespect to Harriet Harman, we now have a leader who can take the fight back to the Toalies
I thought the other one was a dead cert, as you said. After all, that obviously died-on artificial bit of grey he so ostentatiously ensures is at the front of his barnet at all times was a sure winner for me ...(!)
THat is close to my outlook, being on the left but not the far left Susan!
THer you go Cherie. I didn't expect him to win I think it was unexpected until the last day or so Gledwood. Welcome back
Ah James I cannot support the right. I think Labour went too far on undermining civil liberties but I believe that they are a far better choice than the shower in Government now
I would love to be able to feel optimistic about this......but I just know it's all gonna end in tears :-/ He just looks and sounds like a lightweight (sorry).
On this I hope you're wrong Ruth. THe upcoming Spending Review is going to seee services gutted, large scale unemployment that will go beyond the public sector and the weak and vulnerable hit harder than ever. I hope he has the mettle to take the fight back to the Tories

I love the term 'social democrat'.

PS I'm back, and the broadband goblin has gone!!!
Last year sometime one of our local MPs said. Watch out for Ed he will be the next labour leader.
Sigh.
Otherwise, you're quite astute, Jams.
