Wordless Wednesday - Memorial






This week's Wordless Wednesday entry is the Fleet Air Arm memorial (the Royal Navy's aviation arm) near the Houses of Parliament in London. It is one of the most unusual war memorials It is at the same time striking and eerie.

That is amazing. Is it a newer memorial? Reminds me of the Korean War monument in Washington, DC. The figures are on the ground, slightly larger than life, and looking you in the eye or looking right through you. Makes you think hard about war. The sculptors are artists of great passion. Thanks for this photo essay.

Thanks all. Sandy it's a relatively new memorial. I canr remember when it was erected but not many years ago. I have never seen teh Korean war memorila in Washinton. I must search for some images.

Wow, I like it apart from the wing like things,they're a bit strange. It must be pretty new, because I haven't seen it before and I use to pass that area every day.

I really do need to find out about the idea behind the design. It does look like icarus inspiration though.
