Ahmadinejad shuns the limelight for once

Ahmadinejad never seems to be a man who is backward at coming forward when publicity is in the office. It is a little surprising that he has turned down a request by Oliver Stone to make a documentary about him. Apparently he refused because he considered Stone as "part of the Great Satan".

Mr Ahmadinejad apparently considers Hollywood to be a bastion of “pro-Zionist” interests, was unimpressed by Stone;s request: "While it is true that Oliver Stone is considered to be among the opposition in the US, the opposition is still part of the Great Satan," the president's media adviser, Mahdi Kalhor, told the semi-official Fars news agency. "We believe that the American cinema system is devoid of all culture and art and is only used as a device. In the last two years, the global arrogance [Iranian shorthand for the US and Britain] has made a lot of effort to portray their own image of Ahmadinejad, not the one which exists in reality. Hollywood and other Zionist media react to phenomena they don't like through different processes."

Hmm I would have thought Ahmadinejad would have jumped at the chance. It’s his loss, I suppose. Perhaps Stone will have better luck with Kim Jong Il!

Mind you, Oliver Stone has made more than his fair share of turkeys.

Maybe Ahmadinejad was secretly worried that Stone would cast Kevin Costner in the leading role.

Jams

The Mullahs do not like Communists and far left types. After they consolidated power they got rid of them quickly.

The mullahs seem to have a better memory than the far left. The far left is so consunmed in its anti-American and anti-Israel obsessions
they often leave common sense behind.

Oh, and I know that some people will want to attack me for what I just wrote, but the Muslims are very family first and do not regard smut infiltrating and breaking up the family unit with kindness. Part of the problems with Middle Eastern countries is their image of us propogated by Hollywood that we're all slothly heathens. Okay, well, I might be, but that doesn't account for our population as a whole.

Just sayin.....

LOL Roger.. Perhaps Costner should be dances in Burqas!

While the Mullahs are not exactly fond of the left, Ahmadinejad doesn't worry about letting Chavez or Mugabe cosy up to him. Mercifully Ahmandinejad has little or no real power.

On the other hand Ewbl neither are women in many muslim states... Many of the family values are heavily stacked in favour of men.

Of course you're absolutely spot on, jams! I just meant Muslim family values from the context of a fairly anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-slut apparel, anti-pornography culture.

Which throws a lot of such things underground (as some Iranians will happily testify!). What does irk me is that is that the attitudes put the onus on women to behave while men get a free ride
