The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

50,000
At 9am today someone from the UK became the 50,000th visitor to the Poor Mouth. I hope they liked my Kindertransport memorial photos. I hope they come back. There is fresh drivel every day!
jams, that was my imagination that triggered your 50,000th hit... my imagination was in the UK, visiting an NHS doctor, while I was back in a theater in the US, watching Michael Moore's "Sicko" and wondering how I will pay for next month's health insurance...
Seriously, congrats; may you see that number of visitors many, many times over.
My numbers were slow going until I blogged about EMO EMU. That garnered hits from around the world. I've been thinking of hosting a hot google search exchange with other bloggers. You know, where we all list our top attention getters and swap that with others and translate that into writing that one perfect post that will launch 1,000 visitors.
Thanks EWBL..and why not! I can recommend Roy L Pearson and Friendly floatees out of my most recent posts. I found that the buulk of my posts are visited at least once every 20 days. The Poor Mouth has rather a long tail

Thanks Steve, It's quite pleasing to fel that people like to come here! My 1000th post comes up sometime towards teh end of the month too.
We are definitely glad of the NHS, It has downsides, treu, but it is one thins that just about everyone here wants to be preserved and funded properly
