WW - Valerian
Red valerian (Centranthus ruber)that has taken root in a neigbour's garden (top) and a single palnt in our front garden (bottom). This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of Wordless Wednesday.
Someone seems to have put some drops of valerian into my tea - sank on sofa yesterday night and fell asleep for almost twelve hours. - - - - - Great shot of your single plant, Jams.
I think I always called this Jupitors Beard! I LOVE That plant and that it spreads.. and blooms all summer... does it there, I basically was in the desert!

Love that second shot. The pink against the black works nicely.
Both are lovely :-)
I have a lot of valerian
in my garden :)
It grows and increased rapidly... LOL
Great shot !!!
Beautiful! Yes I love the second shot too. Happy WW.
Great shots! I heard Valerian is good for insomniacs.
Happy wordless.
Beautiful shots of the valerian. Such a lovely plant.
Love the night shot (at least I assume it's a night shot). The contrast is striking!
Hmm I shall be able to see the real thing again in just a couple of weeks. Glorious.
Cheers
They're beautiful. :) Happy WW.
Beautiful shots! I love the colours of these flowers :)
Thanks everyone. Maddy they may be a garden escape that has naturalised but they are marvellous flowers that are long lasting
Beautiful flower.
I used to grow Valerian in my garden but it grew rampantly so I ended up pulling it all out.
I like the contrast of the red and pink valerian in the first photo.
:)
Also Like the second one
The red ones stand out amongst those pink ones. :D
I always love the photos of different flowers. So pretty and full of life :)
Happy WW!
excellent pics thanks for sharing
Beautiful...I can almost smell them from here;) Happy WW.
The night shot of the flowers makes it look really lovely with the dark contrast of background behind :)
Very nice shots. I believe that some 'sleeping potions' are made from valerian.
Beautiful, some how the single plant is even more striking than the row of them.

Great shot of your single plant, Jams.
Thanks everyone, Sean I'm sure you needed that sleep!
How lovely. I especially like that second shot, the way the flower is set off by the black background.

Hello Jams!
My favorite is the second photo -- the color contrasts well with the dark background.

is it the same plant??
That is some awesome color you have going there, what a treat to see!The larger version was well worth looking at!
Beautiful! They bear some similarity to the lilacs we have blooming here ~ oh the sweet fragrance!
I take tablets of Valerian Root most nights. They stink like nobody's business but are effective
They are quite effective aren't they. Cats go wild for the roots too!
