What a protest vote for the BNP will get you

Nick Griffin may have been trying to improve the image of the BNP, but (unsurprisingly) he might as well try to polish a turd given the pond life rabble that the party attracts. Yesterday’s Observer ran an article highlighting some of the “wit and wisdom” of key BMP members:

Salford-based BNP Euro election candidate Eddy O’Sullivan set his Facebook status to read "Wogs go home". O'Sullivan wrote: "They are nice people - oh yeah - but can they not be nice people in the fucking Congo or... bongo land or whatever?" O'Sullivan denied that the comments were racist and insisted they were made in private conversations between individuals. "I also may have had a drink at the time," he added (definitely a case of in vino veritas, methinks)

Anti-fascist organisation Searchlight has spent months infiltrating the far right's network of websites and chatrooms and found that many BNP activists share O'Sullivan's views.:

Jeffrey Marshall is senior organiser for the BNP's London European election campaign. Following the death of David Cameron's disabled son Ivan, Marshall claimed in an internet forum discussion: "We live in a country today which is unhealthily dominated by an excess of sentimentality towards the weak and unproductive. No good will come of it." Later, Marshall is alleged to have written: "There is not a great deal of point in keeping these people alive after all." Marshall claims that the comments were private and some had been paraphrased and taken out of context (Hmmm)

• Garry Aronsson, Griffin's running mate for the European parliament in the North West, posts an avatar on his personal web page featuring a Nazi SS death's head alongside the statement, "Speak English Or Die!" He lists his hobbies as "devising slow and terrible ways of paying back the Guardian-reading cunts who have betrayed the British people into poverty and slavery. I AM NOT JOKING."

• Barry Bennett, MEP candidate for the South West, posted several years ago under a pseudonym in a white supremacist forum the bizarre statement that "David Beckham is not white, he's a black man." Bennett, who is half-Jewish, added: "I know perfectly respectable half-Jews in the BNP... even Hitler had honorary Aryans who were of Jewish descent... so whatever's good enough for Hitler's good enough for me. God rest his soul." (being half Jewish would not have just got you half-killed under the Reich...)

• Dave Strickson, a BNP organiser who helps run its eastern region European election campaign, carried on his personal "Thurrock Patriots" blog a recent report of the fatal stabbing of a teenager in east London beneath the words "Another teen stabbed in Coon Town".

When confronted in the past about the extreme views of some of its members, the BNP senior hierarchy has often tried to dismiss them as unrepresentative of the party's core membership. But it appears that they run right to the top of the party. Lee Barnes, the BNP's senior legal officer and one of Griffin's closest allies, has posted a video on his personal blog of a black suspect being beaten by police officers in the US and describes it as "brilliant". Barnes adds: "The beating of Rodney King still makes me laugh." Barnes told the Observer his comments were "nothing to do with colour" but were merely a reflection of his belief that the police should have more powers to punish perpetrators of crime by "giving them a good thrashing". (I wonder if he would enjoy it as much if the victim had been white...)

Simon Darby, Griffin's deputy and the BNP's spokesman, accused Searchlight of "distorting the BNP's message". "When you put it in the context of what's been happening at Westminster, a few scribblings on Facebook hardly seems something to get worried about," he said

What can I add except to say that they have been damned by their own words. The prospect of one of these scumbags getting elected horrifies me. It is one thing to protest against the mainstream parties, especially in the light of recent revelations, but I hope people are not so bloody stupid as to cast their votes for this rabble.

Is a BNP vote in an EU election relevant?

In your post you wrote:

Jams, I guess that is people like you!

Scary... utterly scary....

The sky won't cave in James but it would still be a sad day for Britain if any were elected.

Nevin, the leader has tried to give the BNP a mask of respectability but he has failed given these comments. A vile bunch in my view

I suppose the removed Anonymous was one of those idiots (and just to make sure: for a change, I don't mean 'idiot' in the classical sense).

Well, the British NP is (amongst others) tenderly spooning with the German NP (NPD).

Most advertisments in the party organ of the NPD promise to help against bedwetting and virility problems.

Any questions?

Haha so many members of the NPD are incontinent and impotent.. so much for the new ubermensch!

How about a national campaign to join the BNP?

Then we can elect a new committee, and develop a socially liberal, socialist nationalist party, like the SNP or Plaid Cwmru but covering the whole of Britain. I wouldn't vote for them, but it would be a lot better than racist nationalist socialism. It's a small party, it wouldn't take a huge movement to take it over with moderates.

It is sad that so many people believe their spin....

These people should get some perspective. The earth is a speck of dust in the infinity of space and human beings are just an evolutionary mistake. One day we'll all be gone. National boundaries are artificial demarcations usually established by having a war. I myself do not believe in countries, races or culture. Culture only happens because people living in close proximity pick up each others bad habits. There are only people and we're all alone however much we try to attach ourselves to people we perceive to be in sympathy with our world view. However,in the desolate, lonely place that is my mind I take comfort in the knowledge that there are people out there who feel much the same way I do about important things. People like the blessed Jams. I must go now. A cat is trying to make love to me and I have to do the washing-up.

Jams

I am against all forms of racial superiority. That being said the BNP is an over reaction to the excesses of the left.

Should immigrants be expected to learn the language of the host country? Should immigrants be expected to work, obey laws and respect others?

The answer is for responsible governance to address those questions. As they did not it fell to irresponsible agitators.

THere's a though Richard. I swould imagien that anyone tryong a moderate takeover would feel the wrath of the uglier elements of teh BNP

It dismays me too Cherie.

They certainly are bad news DFP

Aww thanks Dear and I love you too. Anyone who can put up with me for 27 years must be a saint!

This goes far beyond such issues Beakerkin. THe BNP has it's roots in the pre war fascist movements of the likes of Mosley. Don't tell me that the anti semitism of many BNP members is an over reaction to the left.

I think we both know the answers to the questions you put and you know full well that the vast majority do those things. THe BNP are racist parasites who prey on the fears and the underlying prejudices of voters.

Unfortunately during a recession, people put the economic blame on minority groups rather than the bankers.

Within England you have the BNP party and now gaining ground the formation of 'Common Purpose'. Scary stuff.

At the moment in Australia we are having an increased amount of theft and attacks on soft targets. When I say soft targets I mean the elderly and Indians.

Indians are generally not aggressive people so many are being robbed and voilently attacked.

Very sad.

Actually Jams one is quite likely to see as many if not more anti semites
on the left than the right.

In the UK fringe parties have a different role than in the USA wherethey are marginalized. They are exploiting issues that really shouldhave been addressed by legit parties.

The majority of immigrants do behavebut the UK is not the USA.An Indian Dr who emigrated said it best. In the USA I am the man next door, but in the UK I was a foreigner even though my parents were born there.

The bigots and the criminals will always pick soft targets Ardent. THey wont chosse to attack someone who will fight back, the cowards

Beakerkin this post isn't about the left it is about the BNP, a party that has has put on a cloak of respectability and may be on the verge of a breakthrough. The cloak is very thin and as, can be seen, the true face is a lot uglier.

I would not deny that there is racism here in the UK, most of it is more covert than overt. I would not say that the experience of the doctor is the experience of all people from ethnic minorities
