The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Hmm Renm, I wonder if you are rreading too much into the films! On the other hand perhaps "It Came from Trotsky 5" or Attack of the Killer Kulaks" might have been inspireed by Stalin's rule!
The trick or treaters have gone to be.. the campires are gorged so all that are left are my dark familiars.. now that they have been fed they will curl up and dream evil dreams!
Ah, jams, thanks for reviving some memories of my youth! (That youth was as long ago as that song, but not as long ago as many of those movies.)
No trick-or-treat kiddies here. I'm in an apartment. Most of the kids here are literally babies; many are from various Asian cultures with different traditions not including any of the 10/31 holidays. Oh well; I know Stella will cheerfully eat the candy...
15 years ago and we would not see a trick or treater here but it seems to have taken off massively. Ah wel, that's progress I suppose.
Roman, I hope you didn't get the egging. Bryan, I have no idea why the Baptists are so concerned - the original festival was coopted by the church centuries ago. Gald you like the clips! but I daesay many scifi and horror movies will be looked at in the same way 50 years down the road!

Great movies! Man, that makes me want to go rent them all tonight. Happy Halloween!
Monsters were metaphors for Stalinism. They were always destroyed by the authorities of the state.
I love a cheesy horror film Mimo!

Yes, those little monsters are at our door as I type this. Luckily, no eggs so far.
