The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

I'd also like to point out Celso Duarte (the harpist) as a genuine master of the art of improvising over a ground bass, something I've done a bit of in my own life, though not nearly that impressively (and not on harp).
