2007 to be the hottest on record?

The Met Office has forecast that 2007 is likely to be the warmest year on record in 2007 according to the BBC and numerous others. An extended warming period, resulting from an El Nino weather event in the Pacific Ocean, is likely to push up global temperatures, experts predict.

According to the Met Office there is a 60% chance that the average surface temperature will match or exceed the current record from 1998. The global surface temperature is projected to be 0.54C (0.97F) above the long-term average of 14C (57F). The projection was compiled by the UK Met Office's Hadley Centre, in conjunction with the University of East Anglia. Chris Folland, head of the Hadley Centre's climate variability research, said the forecast was primarily based on two factors: greenhouse gas emissions from humans and a moderate strength El Nino already established in the Pacific Ocean.

In December, the World Meteorological Organisation released provisional data on the global average surface temperature for 2006. It estimated that last year was the sixth warmest on record. The 2006 was the UK's warmest year on record in 2006, according to Met Office.

As The Cure would say, "Feeling, feeling HOT HOT HOT!"

This means a record outbreak of tank tops and fat people in Speedos and low rise jeans will break out in a worldwide epidemic next year, jams. Scientists working for a cure is our only hope.

I'm going to get Papi to grease me up for this warming event. Think of the fabulous golden brown tans. We'll all look like rotisserie chickens! I need to make sure he turns me if I fall asleep so I can get evenly cooked.

Right now I could do with some of that warming up. We have had us about two weeks of +7 to +12 (C, of course) here, and I am not suited anymore for that kind of shit!

Long as they continue to sell Diet Coke, I can handle the heat, though.

hmm 7-12C is cold? I'm not suited to either heat or cold myself. U hate snow but when it goes over about 28C I wilt!
