The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
What I said to the photographer who took my photo, "Where are my wrinkles?" He asked, "Do you want some?" I answered, "Yes! I earned them. I'm proud of my wrinkles." He explained that he would need a better apparel to show all the details of my face. That's why, although it's a nice photo, it's not what I would call "a portrait." It's not real!
Your photos are true art. They show not only the body but the heart and soul of the subjects.

What a gentleman! The photo shows much dignity, and a sparkle of amusement in the eyes and the half smile.
You're so good at detecting inner traits and qualities in people. I wish I could visit you for a photo session (and a glass of wine!)
Why thank you Claude.
I am very pleased with this one. I think it also captures his frailty

Oh, it's a beautiful portrait, Shaun! Tender.
Everyone should demand wrinles. I wanted these photos to be as Cromwell wished for his portrait - warts and all!
Thanks Syncy. For some reason your posts get thrown to the spam filter. Dog knows why!
This is very nice because it is so lovingly captured.
Why thanks Susan!
