The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Ah I can thank a superb macro lens and near top of the range camera (well it was 2 years ago it's replacement, the Nikon D800 is meant to be a far better)

This is the only place I've ever seen one of these lovely things.
They are small but they are beautiful and come back year after year. And they bloom for months too. They do deserve to be more popular
