Little things please...

Thanks to Skuds I am now aware of the existence of Acronym Finder. Just like in Blackadder III when Prince George used Dr Johnson's dictionary to look up rude words, I could find one significant use for this site, namely:-

Travelling Wave Amplifuer Tube

ARySulphataseE

Tactical Optical Surveillance System

and so on...

It even lists the Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society (OK that one is from Red Dwart. I watch too much telly!)

Can I tell yo how much I loved Black Adder. (Black Adder Black Adder-codpiece made of metal...)
Truly, in the very last episode when they came out of that foxhole to their ends, oh, I cried. I had no idea they were going to go and get all serious on me.
Thanks for the finder! I am going to try to put it to good use!

Blackadder was perhaps the funniest thing ever on tv. I loved the episode in series II with the drinking contest while his puritan aunt and uncle were at dinner... THe only low point was the "Back and Forth" thing doen for the Millennium dome.. pretty poor stuff!

Ah Pete you have also discovered its true use!

You have taken a perfectly good, valuable technical resource and subverted it to undertake toilet humour-related research!!!

Good man!

I am still irked that the site did not have Deployable ARS on it.

But seriously, its a lifesaver for anyone faced with technical documents which are stuffed with jargon.

Actually I think this site may well be quite helpful as I lack the grade to say "In English please" and anyone actually listen (not that it stops me saying it!)

True story: Once, on the last day of a contract programming job for a client who shall remain nameless, I was instructed to change the splash screen of the application from its original name... Risk... to an acronym for the phrase "Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Program". I stifled my guffaws and did exactly as I was told...

Oh dear Steve! Then again there is a fast food joint near me which proudly displays itself as the Chicken, Ribs & Pizza Diner!
