So the Olympic flame came to Havering today. In Romford anyway there was a big turnout to see it pass by.

A great collection of photos.
I did everything I could to avoid the damn flame when it came through my place, being a curmudgeonly bugger who has seen burning gas before... only to be stopped by the police in my car when traveling in Edinburgh a few days later and forced to wait at the front of a roadblock for half an hour while the corporate circus made its way past me by sheer bad luck of coincidental timing as I had been totally unaware that it was coming there on that day. And when I saw the flame pass by my irritated face, despite my best efforts to avoid it, I found that it looked much like any bit of burning gas that I had seen before. Bah humbug.
They are interesting pictures, however, and I hope Good Londonium enjoys the melee, but then we wait for the doping scandals to leave the nasty smell of ignoble suspicion as ever. Forsooth, they even have proven dopers reinstated into team GB (and other teams) this year don't they? How noble? I shall look the other way.
It's all been rather a circus but then an even like this in the run up will be a corporate gravy train. Once the games start though....
Personally I woud rather not have drug cheats on the team but if they serve their ban and if they are contrite about their past drug taking, I suppose we have no choice but to let them run, ride or whatever.
