The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

WW - Armistice Day
Today is teh 90th anniversary of the end of WWI. This photo is another taken at the Field of Remembrance, Westminster Abbey on Friday. This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of Wordless Wednesday.
A sense of sadness fill the air in this picture.
A nice tribute for all those who hav fought and died. Yup. Sadness.
Let the children of today not be allowed to forget the sacrifices made by men and women in all wars :)
I thought I might get a chance to go there myself on Saturday when I was in London, but I ran out of time.
You have posted so many good photographs, I feel I have been there anyway!
I also posted Remembrance Day images today. It is hard to imagine 90 years have gone by...
My WW entries for today are at:

Moving shot for Armistice Day. Your post above is also excellent.
I'd love to see this in a wide angle shot. It must be absolutely amazing to see all these markers at a glance. Sad, but amazing.
We shall not forget...
Hi Jams, I'm wondering how many of these star/poppies there were. It must have been a lot if no one was left out.
Happy WW! Thanks for your visit and nice comment.
What a powerful tribute. Great picture, Jams.
You were obviously very moved by this and how could you not be? I had forgotten that it was the 90th anniversary. It seems to have been the war which has affected us most of any. May we never forget.
A stunning and evocative shot.
God bless our Veterans. Great shot. Happy WW.
Let Peace prevail!
It is an evocative image. Isn't it amazing to think that WWI was supposed to have been 'the war to end all wars' -- and here we are, warring still. Sad.
its good to remember them from time to time.. my entries are sweetprettynaughty and sweetytots</a
Maybe, just maybe, one day......
Oh, pardon me. I must've been dreaming.
so neat, but feel the sadness..happy WW anyway.
I hope there is no more War in this world. No more killing of one another.
We don't want any more memorials or remembrance day.
Thank you for posting that...Terrible sadness comes over me with that picture!
Wow. Very powerful and humbling.
a fitting capture for those brave men... i believe there are still 3 living veterans for WW1 there... here, all of them have passed away...
Great post for ww. What are those brown things? Looks like pin-wheels to me?
Happy WW. Check out my Scenes of Autumn and Vote for me. I’m a finalist in a Blogging Scholarship. Visit this link and select Danielle Lee.
Thank You very much.
Wow, that's a great photo and tribute..
Have a great day Jams...
What an amazingly moving shot. Sometimes a picture is just so powerful. Well done.
The scale of the slaughter is still impossible to imagine-yet too easily forgotten.
I felt a sense of sadness, but proud @ the same time.
