The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Good isn't it and just five years after the first ever film
Marvellous, and so playful. Innovation in art needs a light touch, or it just comes across as show-offish. I think Melies' film is what Buster Keaton was making homage to in The Play House, where he played all the members of an orchestra — and the audience.
I never thought of Buster Keaton Stan... perhaps!
