Stalin a mass murderer after all...

According to the BBC a Moscow court has rejected a lawsuit filed by Yevgeny Dzhugashvili Joseph Stalin’s grandson claiming that the Russian newspaper; Novaya Gazeta, had defamed Joseph Stalin.

Dzhugashvili said that an article published in the newspaper that claimed Stalin personally ordered the deaths of Soviet citizens was a lie. He had requested a public apology and damages from the opposition newspaper.

The court rejected his petition and the Novaya Gazeta had published a piece referring to declassified death warrants, which it said bore Stalin's personal signature.

Mr Dzhugashvili has five days to appeal against the ruling.

Well there you have it Stalin was a murdering bastard after all and not a doting grandfather....
A more disgraceful legal action from the UK featuring my “favourite” corporate criminal scum Trafigura and their rabble of ugly shysters Carter-Ruck to follow.

Sounds like he ought to have been a bit more realistic or informed before making public demands.

Stalin's family is living in the past.

The first time in Mexico, when an agent of Stalin's tried to assasinate Trotsky, The Nation Magazine, accused Trotsky of faking an assasination attempt.

Stalin had amazing support. To be a Stalinist, it required much less than being Trotskyist. It was ok to be nationalist, antisemitic and not have to think about revolution abroad.

Is it just me, or just Stalin look like a Sacha Baron Cohen character in that picture? :)

THe Grandson's view isn't a huge surpise . A lot of russians see Stalin as a great man Sukhmandir.

True it's just as well Stalin died when he did, it is very possible that he was about to unleash a ssecond holocaust on the Jews in the USSR

Haha Catsynth... I woudn't put it past him!

Some people are delusional... kind of like the president of Iran denying that the Holocaust occurred. Although this guy is his grandson so I kind of understand.

Of course he was and every thinking Russian, particularly the intelligentsia, knows and resents it.

Good Lord

Stalin was a mass murderer who looks like Borat in that picture.
Maybe he will create a demented Trotsky worshiper as his next character.

Leave it for an apologist for a war criminal defeated by Stalin in a power play to whine about the crimes of a system created by Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin.

Stalin killed millions of innocent people but Trotsky was not one of them. A broken clock is correct twice a day.

A murdering bastard and a doting grandfather - there is no contradiction, I would say.

And the verdict is good - for Russia, for the court and for Novaya Gazeta.

Dzhugashvili can fork himself.

Amazing to think anyone could ponder the thought that Stalin's character could be defamed any more than He already damaged it himself OMG!
Great read Jams!

I never could believe that Roosevelt and Churchill would sit with Stalin. Wars make strange bedfellows.
