The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Interesting - quite a few major women singers were born in that period. My personal hang up is with Judy Henske - the least socially-minded of all. Go figure. But when she goes into the High Flying Bird...
I Love Dancing Barefoot - it plays with all the archytypes used to discredit women over the ages.
she was a woman! all the shit in romford and paisley is because young girls identify with girls aloud and not patti smith!
I am not familiar with Judy Henske Snoopy. I will see if I can find High Flying Bird and give it a listen.Dancing Barefooot is probably my favourite Patti Smith song. I've always loved it, Pisces. Now there's a thought Mullet. Can you imagine the streets of Paisley, Romofrd or wherever full of poets rather than (piss) artists!
