The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

I would like to thank a visitor from Lazio in Italy who came to look at a Jacques Brel post a few minutes ago. He or she was visitor 750,000 to the Poor Mouth. Thanks and haste ye back. There's fresh drivel (almost) every day!
Congratulations, Jams! You're worth visiting more than once a day. Your (many unusual) posts, splendid photos, and your links to artists, writers and music are very interesting. Above all, much gratitude for keeping me aware of the difficult parts of the world where people are jailed in, tortured and killed, when fighting for the rights to be free in their country, as I am in mine (without any heroism.) You're very often a much needed eye-opener!
Thanks Claudia. I don't pretend to be a great thinker and there are plenty of bloggers who will produce far better analysis of issues than I could (which is why I don't!)
I am pleased that people like my blog. Most of my visits come from people looking for individual posts.
Calum, Thanks but I am not a big blogger... I just have a long tail of posts and a good page ranking.
What you have done on Mental HEalth issues and on Trafigura is worth all of my posts put together

Jams, well done.
Truly we inhabit very different parts of the blogosphere!
Congrats.

Wow! Congratulations, jams!
THanks Liz!
Congrats, Jams. The Poor Mouth is whatever the opposite of drivel is.
To paraphrase Mr Brel: Je ne te quitte pas!
Wow thanks Stan!
