The theme for the week's
Photo Hunt is memorial. This statue is the Fleet Air Arm memorial on the embankment not far
from the Houses of Parliament. I love it. It's one of the eeriest statue I have ever seen.
NB Fleet Air Arm is the name for the Royal Navy's aviation wing

It is beautiful, and eerie at the same time. Perfect choice for this theme.
eerie yes. i marvel at how the artist's mind work sometimes.
enjoy the weekend.
ewok somehow seems to have anticipated my thoughts.
Wow! I love it too but it's SO unusual for a military memorial. The first photo almost looks like Voldemort or some evil movie creature. But then in the third photo, he looks like he might be cuddling a rescued cat. I'm curious as to how old it is?
Great take on the theme! Happy weekend.
THanks. Annie I'm not sure how old it is. It can't be that old. I can't see thi being erected in the 40's or 50's!
That is a fascinating statue, I must look it up next time I am near there.
It does look eerie but captivating at the same time. The close up shot somehow shows a desolate look.
It is an amazing statue Jams. Very interesting face.
Happy weekend to you.
What an incredible statue. Great work for the Fleet Air Arm memorial. Very moving. Happy weekend.
Your shots really bring out the character of the statue. Nice work.
Agree about the eeriness. The face on that statue... it looks haunted and so sad... Great photos that really bring out that element, jams.
eerie but beautiful. love it too.
i agree, it's eerie yet powerful.
If this was the face of a pilot it's of a man who's understood the horrors of war. It's uncanny yet very beautiful.
very interesting statue. it looks strange.
Nice but I sure won't pass there at night. :P

You may want to remember the poor cats that are kicked out of their island in Singapore.
Oh it is eerie. I have never seen a memorial anything like that.
Instantly I thought of some sci-fi humanoid bat! It does capture the superhuman spirit of the airmen! Incredible statue!
P.S. You were right about the connection with Guernica!
That's an interesting statue to look at.
Happy PH, mine is posted here.
Have a great weekend.
Yes, you're right it's beautiful and eerie at the same time. Thanks for sharing!
Kind of poignant for this weekend here in the states.
That is an eerie and yet very attractive statue. Nice job on your photos of it. Excellent take on this weeks theme and and thanks for dropping by my blog and I hope I see you again soon.
Beautiful, and appropriately eerie. After all, it is a commemoration of the death of young men.

You are right, eerie yet very interesting to look at. Great entry, thanks for stopping by my corner. :-)
Eerie is right. I would also add "stark" and "dark" and "dramatic" and "moving".
My photohunt post is up
That's not your average memorial. Nice take on the theme.
It is gothic in its eerieness! Great choice for this week'd theme.
I hope that you had a brilliant weekend.
