The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Casual animal cruelty
Lola the cat was stuck for about 15 hours in the bin before she was rescued. Someone has definitely not endeared themselves to the cat lovers of Britain...
I saw this earlier today. It is sick. But also very odd. Why on earth would a middle aged woman put a cat in a bin? We all know youngsters can do stupid things, as often through thoughtlessness and the effects of drink as through real malice.......but this is just plain weird! It doesn't appear to be done in a moment of hot headedness, but calmly and deliberately. Apparently she has been identified, so hopefully will be deterred from doing anything like that again!
I've been a bit out of touch and haven't seen this before. What a totally absurd thing to do. Especially after she stopped and stroked the poor cat, which does suggest it's out of character surely?

It was an utterly shitty act by any standards
Ruth I daresay she is no better than a pariah in her neighbourhood
It is a strange act though. Perhaps it hissed at her or clawed her.
I agree with Ruth it is a sick thing to do. I hope she has been identified because who knows what else she could get up to...
A cat with its tail up doesn't claw people. It was clearly looking for some attention James
She has been identified Cherie her name is Mary Bale.
Unbelievable! I'd like to stick her in a garbage bin for several hours
Indeed. I doubt she would dump a cat in one again

Perhaps it was out of character but it was still a crass act
