Working down a diamond mine

In the 60s, I was the nurse of a small village, Renabie Gold Mine. I had to go down when a miner was hurt. You really don't see gold until it's extracted and finally formed into bricks. If it had been diamonds, I might have put one in my Emergency Kit.
